Title: Can I use cat litter in a rabbit tray?
Post by: Yana on July 29, 2012, 11:44
I have two absolutely gorgeous rabbits and have been using newspaper and sawdust in their litter trays. I want to try using the recycled cat litter pellets as my daughter does for her cat, but not sure if this is OK? They won't eat it will they?

I used to use the paper pellet cat little for my rabbits, it was ok, one of the bunnies did eat it a bit once wee'd on (who knows why!!), didn't seem to do any harm as it breaks down!

However I have now changed to using a product called Megazorb which is a horse bedding and comes in large (approx 60L) bags and available from some horse suppliers at about £7-8 a bag.  It is very good and used by a lot of small animal owners as an alternative to expensive Carefresh.

Also Megazorb composts down very well- we used it for the horses under their straw and have had some really good compost from that layer of the muck heap!

Thanks for the info. I'll have a look to see where I can buy Megazorb from.
