WE're going for Ulster Chieftan, first earlies, King Edwards for roasting, Blue Danube, as they are only 99p from T&M, and Rooster cos we grew them last year and had some very good results.
I got blue danube for 99p from T&M it was special offer if you spent over £19.00. My plot is 150 sq mtres and im using a third of it for spuds, i've got 120 so far is this enough?
Hurray finally retired
two plots now 31A and 35A

it would depend Harry on how many you want to feed I guess. We grew far too many last year, still got loads left that are starting to sprout now. I think we planted about 120, and there are three of us to feed, but I've not had to buy any potatoes ! The storage was a problem too, I bought one of those outdoor plastic storage box things, but it wasn't any good for storing veg, too damp.

I've no idea ... and I won't know until they're delivered ;)

Mind you, my order was :

Damn, giving blondes choices is never a good idea, I spent all day staring at varieties :tongue2:

How about I describe the bed I have for them and then leave the choice to you? After all, you're the expert ;)

I said I wouldn't do spuds this year but ..

I've got 2.5Kgs each of  Swift and Setanta chitting.

I may pick up a few PJ's next time I see them as they were the only spud that didn't suffer badly from scab last year.

Mozart? only asking as I've been given a few to try...don't know what they're like though.

I mean, I've looked it up on the database, but that doesn't really tell me what they taste or grow like...does it? ::)

Rocket
British Queen
Maris Piper

:)

The first three varieties listed were bought locally at the weekend as we thought we had been totally let down on a delivery from eBay and feared missing out altogether...... however, we received the following today:

Charlotte
Lady Chrystl
Catriona
Majestic

... having ordered ...

Foremost
Carlingford
Valour
Vivaldi  ::)  :lol:

Never again for this eBay seller!  ::) At least we should have plenty potatoes!  :D  :nowink:

Last year I grew. Pentlands, Charlottes, Maris Piper and Desiree.

This year I've gone for Maris Peer(taste better than Pentland IMO), Charlottes, the best salad spud when fresh, and desiree, so reliable and huge yeild, still have a sack full.  :D
