Update on my Sick Chicks
« on: November 27, 2007, 14:47 »
Hello to all.  Well a refresher, I got 3 Marans, 2 hens and a rooster.  Brought them home and a hen went broody hatched out 7 peeps, all was well, until they got sick, went to the vet, Medication for 2 or 3 months, antibiotics, probiotics, wormer, ect.  One of the pollets died, and a little hen and a little rooster had to come in the house for a month.  They were not doing well at all.  Medicated them back to health.  Put them out with the others, Oh my it took a few days to introduce them but we made it through all that!  AND NOW   We are happily getting along.  The roosters have picked out their wives, and are starting a honeymoon!  The hens are not quite sure why the roosters are jumping on them, I say you are on your own.  I'm not going through the abc's with them.  I draw the line.   Anyhow I would like to thank you all for helping me through all of this, you guys, and gals, should be proud of your nolage and experiance with chickens.   I have found that they can be fragile, but yet they are harty.  They do take care of themselves for the most part.  I have learned that through you all.  WE give you BIG HUGS AND KISSES

Put some pics up - I know nothing about looking after chickens but I still look at the pictures!
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
