What breed is this?
« on: March 30, 2012, 08:43 »
I've just taken in a single bantam hen (the rest of the flock were killed by a fox leaving her on her own for the passt few months). Can anyone help identify the bree for me...she's very flighty and being so small has spent 2 days sitting on a small twig, up high in the run out of the way of my 3 hens.

Thank you  Kym

Not sure what she is - looks like she could be a cross, possibly a bit of Sebright? Wanted to say though that she is a pretty little thing. I am sure she was quite traumatised by the fox attack.

Hope she settles in well with your 3 hens  :)

Sorry - I had enough trouble posting the pictures ...no idea how to turn them the right way round!
Not sure what to do about this little hen.  I let my 3 out into the run this morning and came home to find little hen on the lawn.  She is small enough to get through the trellis that keep mine off the main garden.  That was OK till the dog ran out to investigate, hen took off from the middle of the lawn and flew to the top of the shed.  Shes been up there 3 hours now and is leading me a merry dance!  I've rung her former owners and said I can't keep her.  I was doing them a favour by taking her in but I'm not going to the expense of refencing my existing run.  To be honest I didn't realise she was a bantam until she arrived... I just assumed she'd be the same size as my hens.

Anyone in North Kent want a free bantam?

Kym
