what breed for what job!

Ok im planning on having my cake and eating it! well maybe my chicken! what breed is best for eggs and for the table. Also if im having a broody hen for hatching out fertile eggs from other birds which is the best breed for this. Im sure to be asking something else soon hahaha xx Ive had a look around the site now and you all seem so helpful and friendly with each other keep up the good work because without you us newbies wouldnt have any where to go, thanks again x

Thankyou both so much xx that was really helpful. But now im sort of getting into the chicken thing ermmm I think im going all soppy hahaha. maybe a few eggs would be enough. Now im making friends with chickens I sort of dont think I want to eat them.!!!!!!!!!!!!! :roll:

after you raise them, its really hard to eat them. dont exactly recommend it. i raise them for eggs mate, not meat

Hello chuckyegg!
You do get attached really quickly -and they do have such interesting personalties! I have large fowl (and bantam) favorelles -a dual purpose french bird which lay lovely eggs right into winter  and give plenty of meat too-so if you ever fancy eating them.....I haven't yet and they are too beautiful and gentle! :D
