Just watched Monty Don planting his currants on Gardeners world.
I couldnt believe my eyes when he took the plants out of the pot and they were just bare rooted plants with a bit of compost chucked on top which all just fell off.
I bet he paid a lot more for his supposed "Pot Grown" plants than he would have done for Bare rooted ones (which his were anyway).
That's the oldest garden centre trick in the book.
Buyer Beware !! :D

I must say I was LMAO at that too.

And why weren't we allowed to see Joe's new allotment? Was the TV crew just finishing digging it over?

Vegmandan, I was just looking through the GW website and they actually call for a bareroot currant bush for the filming. The loose stuff was obviously to just keep the roots from drying out until they could get it into the ground.

Well mine were bare roots from the £ shop and they are better than the ones I bought from "reputable" gardening companies. They have all take off and are very smug with it too!!!

Snap weeeed, my cheap-as-chips (? chips aren't cheap? :!: ) Poundland fruit bushes are thriving too :)

I don't think Monty needed to worry about the roots drying out after that downpour he filmed in. Hail and everything!

& do you really think he paid for them :?: :?: :?: :?:
