No waste in the NHS.
« on: January 06, 2022, 18:19 »
Good evening everyone,  I received a letter from my surgery telling me I was about to recieve a letter from the arthritis hospital, this arrived the same day.  This letter told me to call a telephone number and arrange an appointment, a letter will be sent confirming this date (if it is OK with me).  If not convenient ... I'll send a letter!

Cheers,  Tony.

You need a large glass of red wine to cope with that.

I'm completely nonplussed.  You couldn't make that up if you tried.

I remember years ago telephoning some government office over here (our tax office I think; Internal Revenue Service), asking for some assistance.  The person I spoke with did not have an immediate answer to my question, and asked me "are you near a telephone?"  I literally looked at the handset and said "I'm talking to you on a telephone!"    ???

I think she hung up after that.

Reminds me of a conversation I had in a bar in old Tsim Sha Tsoi (Hong Kong),  a chap said his doctor approached him at a party and started to remonstrate about his blood pressure.  The chap said "You are very inneficient, I pay you to worry about my health, you come and tell me it's bad so I worry about my health, that's two people doing the same job and that is grossly innefficient"!

Cheers,  Tony.

In a past life I worked with a few hospitals on projects to improve attendance rates for appointments as they are shockingly bad and cost the service much more than few extra letters and texts.
