Pathetic Leeks
« on: May 21, 2011, 13:27 »
THis is the 1st time I've tried to grow them.  They were started off in paper pots and transplanted still in the paper pots about 4-6 weeks ago.  Since then they've hardly grown but haven't died either.  Are they likely to come to life or should I remove them and use the space for something else?  They are about 2-3" high and very thin but still upright and green.  At the same time the carrots and parsnips were done and although neither of them look particularly stunning, they have progressed more than the leeks.

they are quite slow growing, but you don't eat them till winter time, so They have a lot of time for growing ;)

Give them the occasional feed and water and they usually turn out fine :)

Mine are still in the tray waiting to go in after the new potatoes come out!

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and taste good with ketchup

How deep did you plant them?

They don't need to be in indiviual pots, they'll stand a lot of rough handling and really need to be dropped into a deep, well watered hole.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

They are as deep as the paper pot they went in.  I used a bulb planter to make the hole then dropped the paper pot in...so about 5 "..ish?

I'll keep up the watering when necessary and hope :)  Thanks all
