Another silly watering question.
« on: April 08, 2014, 09:22 »
My tom seedlings have been on the go about a fortnight now. They are potted in an equal mix of compost, loam and vermiculite in half pint plazzy cups. When I set the seed, I let them soak up as much water as they could watering from beneath, then put them out on a tray to drain. They germinated quickly, and as yet, I haven't watered again. The pots still seem to have plenty of water judging by the weight of the pot. Does this seem feasible to you? It seems a long time without water to me. The plants are looking healthy enough.

The loam will make them feel heavy compared to compost alone.  How do they feel to the touch?

They feel ok. The pots that have been watered are considerably heavier than a pot which hasn't. The third of vermiculite keeps weight down.
