Blue Danube, as they are only 99p from T&M,

You sure you've not misread it?

This says £9.99

http://www.thompson-morgan.com/potatoes1/product/yww5345/1.html

Unchitted cheaper, but still £3.49

T&M were doing a deal Oct 09 where if you spent so much on stuff you could have Blue Danube for 99p.

I had 10 for 3.99. Not the best deal in the world but just wanted to give this new Sarpo variety a try.
Top tip for camping....don't go.

I'm a newbie at spuds so I'm having a dabble at everything, using a bed in my back garden for the mains and containers for the rest. I don't like using chemicals so disease resistance is a biggie for me.

First earlies

Red Duke of York (10)
Pentland Javelin (5)
Rocket (5)
Orla (5)

Second earlies - Bonnie (5)

Early mains - Lady Balfour (5)

Mains

Desiree - 1 row
Sante - 1 row
Sarpo Axona - 1 row

OK, I know Desiree aren't great on disease resistance but I just like them.

Foremost - grew them last year, great taste
Charlotte - really like these,

For the main crop, have ten tubers each of the following,

Mayan Gold
Mayan Queen
Mayan Twilight

Heard so much about these spuds thought i would give them a go.
I'll post the results when harvested,   :)

This is our third year of growing spuds. Going with plenty of our established favourites maris bard (1st early) and marfona (2nd early). Also trying a couple of rows each of maris peer and vivaldi.

Went to a potato day on Saturday, as you could buy them loose we have bought a few each of the following varieties to try:

Accord
Lady Balfour
Lady Christl
King Edward
International Kidney
Carlingford
Mayan Twilight
Swift
Pixie
Ulster Sceptre
Maxine
Nadine
Pentland Lustre

Phew! 17 varieties should be enough!

Hi I've got 10 of each of these

First Earlies:
Maris Bard
Pentland Javelin

Second Earlies:
Marforna
Saxon

Maincrop
Desiree
Kestrel
Maris Piper
Pink Fir Apple (I've got double of these)

I've gone for several varieties small amounts of each as it's my first year on this lotty and I'm not sure what the main problems will be - wireworm, eelworm etc etc.  I think it's reasonably slug free but I'll soon find out!!
Penny  :D

Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

1st E: Red Duke of York - 3 4.5 metre rows
2nd E: Vivaldi - 6 rows
Main: Cara - 3 rows

Salad: a few International Kidney, grew them last year - great yields, but need to be lifter early for flavour, left to grow on they go floury (enough for 1 row)

also a few Pink Fir Apple. only enough left for half a row.

For my first year on the plot I have ordered 3kg of each of the following:-

First earlies: Duke of York
Second earlies: Estima
Early maincrop: King Edward
Late maincrop: Golden Wonder.

I was a few days late getting my order in so may receive some substitutions. Delivery awaited so I'll just have to wait and see.

We have real problems with blight on the site, so I have decided to focus on second earlies and give up on mains.  So :
Pentland Javlin - first earlies

and as the bulk of the crop :
Charlotte - salads
Wilja - leaving them in the ground long enough for bakers
Kestral
Maris Peer

It's my job to plan the plot, buy and chit them.  OH does the planting, so I haven't actually told him how many there are yet .
