Easily grown outdoors as a Ridge Cucumber, this is a very interesting, quick-growing, very prolific variety producing an abundance of delightful, rounded, lemon-coloured fruits.

I am looking for what I am going to grow next year-how exciting!

Planted on top of a ridge or mound of earth.  Cumbria might be a bit cool for them - hopefully someone will disagree with me.  :D

'Crystal Lemon' HEIRLOOM VARIETY Cucurbitaceae Cucumber (Ridge type)

What does 'rift back up' mean.  Still quite new to this, bought a cucumber plant in may, stuck it into a pot, put it into the greenhouse and left it.  I have had more fruit than I know what to do with-but as you can see this is more good luck than management!

You'd still plant them on a mound wouldn't you?  Same as courgettes?

No.

Straight in the soil. Wire mesh for them to grow up.

As for courgettes, I actually do the opposite & grow them in a hollow, well not a hollow but into level ground, then draw up the soil around the plant, so it has a circular mound around it. When you water - it doesn't run away.

"Werks for me".

When all esle fails - read the planting instructions on the packet!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Ah well, I can't grow them outdoors anyway - too cold.

I grow my Tastee Burpless Green in the ground inside the polytunnel, no ridges though, but they are the ones that turned into melons this year, and the outdoor ones aren't doing very well, all that rain did something to them.  I've only had one cucumber with another on the way!!!
