I took over my allotment a year ago which was covered in weeds taller than me!  I've spent nearly all that time clearing it of weeds and have finally sowed some seeds amoungst them beetroot and raddish.  Unfortunaterly I think I sowed a little too thickly and have tried thinning them out and replanting the thinned ones in a new row but the leaves appear to have wilted badly even though I've been watering them well - the soil is sandy.  Do you think they will rally at some point or should i just dig them out and just sow a little more thinly next time?

Helloe Mrs Moo & welcome to the forums.

I'll move this to GYO, pehaps you'll pop back to the welcome forums and introduce yourself.

You have to be very careful in transplanting root vegetables, they are not very found of it, the slightest bit of disturbance can damage the fine roots and then it's curtains. Radish in  particular don't like it.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I have moved beets with great success in the past, they did look dead for about ten days but I carried on watering and they did just as well by harvest time  ;)
