You go to the garden centre for one thing...

and come back with, er, three hens!

Poor things, I felt so sorry for them.  There were eight in a pen 1.5 x 1.5m and they were eating each others' tails.  Their beaks have been badly clipped, so all will need a sandpaper trim when they have calmed down a little bit.

Sold as egg layers, I'd say they were a month off laying yet, they have small combs and wattles, but they are still very pale.

Well done Casey!!!!!  Poor wee things don't know how lucky they are that you saw them.  Just hope the others are so lucky and don't go to someone that has bought on a whim  .  I hope you told the Management a thing or two about chicken keeping

Little madams!

I came back this evening, in the dark, to find my three new girls perching... two on the gate and one on top of the small henouse... both of which are outside their very carefully constructed pen 

Me thinks some wing clipping will be going on tomorrow!
