Do you have a run that could be covered in the event of an outbreak? If you do I believe that you are able to you can keep them, provided your bio-security is sufficient.

different rules apply depending on the risk I think. Its something like, if its in some sort of region region near you, all bird movement is banned, then if it is confirmed to be  close, all birds are quarantined, then if REALLY close, or your birds show ANY symptoms, then unless your birds are registered with DEFRA as endangered, they have to be culled onsite and men in white suits take the bodies

I would be bringing my two drakes into the house if needs be to save them  ::) ::) To me they are just like the cats so you would probably find me hiding them under the bed when the men in white suits came.... shortly after the men in white coats may come to take me  :tongue2:

Hopefully if it happened round here, we would have enough room to keep all our chooks in their houses, and I'd be trying to make a covered walkway so they could go into the polytunnel to get their exercise!!!!   :D

"what's that up your jumper Miss Harrison....."

I don't think it is something to be too worried about though. It may happen, but for now enjoy your girls as there are so many "what ifs" with poultry keeping it could cause permanent insomnia if you worried about them all  :)

I would employ Grannie Annies Brian to build me more covered runs like the one he is making for my poots, but in the meantime they would all move into the horsebox - if it was big enough to carry 6 of Harvey Smiths Show Jumping horses then it's big enough to house 40 chickens
Staffies are softer than you think.

I bought it a couple of years ago (we collect a certain make of lorry/ bus) and this was made by the same company. We had to go to his farm and collect it and he was most charming - he has a right twinkle in his eye
