« on: August 25, 2013, 22:23 »
Thought Id have a go - I can find 2 types of recipe , With sour cream / yoghurt and without. Does anyone have a definite recipe ? Im looking for something to cut a chunk off to scoff and also something custard worthy.

Is the cake lemony enough on it's own without the drizzle? Some of the recipes I've read have used 4 lemons !

Here's what Wiki says http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_cake  I've always used it as a generic term for cakes baked the same shape as a loaf. Whoever started this nonsense about baking round cakes should have been slapped.

Probably not - but it's like a Greek lemon cake and they rely on the drizzle sinking in to make them taste good ;)

Wow that must've been a big cake!
I suppose if you use 1:1:1:1 ratio, then a victoria sponge is a pound cake too.  Its not a term that gets used in our area.
I agree that loaf shapes are easier to manage, ie slice, but round ones are prettier.  ;)

This one works for me  :)
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4942/lemon-drizzle-cake

Tried this last night, managed to grate my thumb on the box grater  :nowink: How on earth on you supposed to get the rind off the grater ? next time I think I'll peel it and put it in the chopper.  It wasn't very lemony so I added the juice from the lemon too.  It's not bad ... it would have been better though if when adding the eggs Id have remembered Id halved the other ingredients
