The people loved Paco, warts and all!!! They decided not to take the Dalmatian as he is very strong and excitable and as Paco is a nervous dog they wanted a dog that would hopefully keep him stress free, so they have adopted Adela the Spanish Mastin (sorry no photo, I will rectify that tomorrow when they come to collect her)
Paco went home with them tonight, they paid for him 50€ (chip, injections, worm tablet and passport) and then gave a donation of 50€ too They then said they would pay for Adela today, and then gave another 50€ donation!!! Yoli´s (the president of the refuge) mouth was wide open with shock, that 100€ will go towards paying for the mastin pups vet bill (who´s eye was removed)

They are sure Paco will be walking on a lead very soon. I had a message, they had bought 100€ worth of dog food on the way home!!!!! Blimey, I think our dogs should go and live with them too. They have a 5,000sq mtr garden, so just enough space for him to run about in!!!
I had forgotten all about the web page I had put him on!!! I will add other dogs to it now!

I'm so glad Paco has a good home to go to - he's such a lovely looking dog and I am sure a bit of care and attention will remove those 'warts'.

As soon as they saw him they wanted him. They did consider the Dalmatian, but he and Paco are not friends as such, so decided to take Adela, the Mastin. She has been at the refuge such a long time, well about 18 months. I am off to the refuge this morning, the new owners ate coming for Adela around mid-day.
The vet bill for the pup that had her eye removed was just over 250€ so the 100€ will help a lot !!! We hope to get a Mastin/German shepherd cross and a Staffy in Adela's outside kennel run, as the dogs get on well outside, thenwe will have 2 stables empty, if things work out ok we can then collect the Podenco and her 8 pups from the foster home :D

I'm so pleased for you and all the other refuge workers :D After the recent traumas of dogs being dumped on you and the poor dog who lost her eye, it must be such a boost :)
The new owners sound like lovely people who really care about dogs as well, so lucky Paco and Adela :)

I hope that these people keep in contact with the refuge to let you know how the dogs progress. :)

PS I have just watched a really upsetting Youtube video of the Podenco dogs in Spain. We have 2 Podenco´s at the refuge, our dogs are so lucky!! I won´t post the link, it is not suitable for a child to see

There is a chance the same family will adopt the other Mastin we have, Pancho. He has Leish, so would be very hard to ever re-home. So we are keeping our fingers crossed hard!!

They are adopting Pancho too :D :D :D :D He is very sad since his Adela went :( the family sent a message to say they have researched leishmania and have decided to adopt Pancho too!! They are saints :D :blush: he goes to his new home on Sunday, we are all so happy for him :D

I had to look up leishmania. Poor old Pancho, but at least it hasn't stopped him getting a new home :)

Ooooooh! Wonderful news! I was so busy watching your original thread to see what his visitors thought of him that I completely missed this :lol: Am so pleased for all the dogs and for you too. What lovely news. Hope all goes well for them and they all settle in really quickly and get over their past problems. Adela looks beautiful too.

A lady from the refuge was at the vet with her dog and got chatting to a Spanish/ German couple and they said they were looking for assmall dog to adopt and take to Germany tomorrow..... So they were told about a dog Bruce we had at the refuge. They went and met him, fell in love, he was microchipped and is off to Germany tomorrow. They did not want to see any other dogs, they were happy with Bruce! So this past 2 weeks, counting Pancho on Sunday 5 dogs have been adopted!!!

More good news from the refuge..... The pup that was found with an injured eye, that was removed, is off to a new home in Madrid in the next two weeks :lol:

I had to take a fan to the refuge tonight, it was so hot there. The 7 pups are lovely, 2 chocolate brown, 1 black and 4 sandy colour, all lovely :D. They were born in a rabbit hole, the mother made a great job of rearing them :D

Pancho went to his new home with Adela and Paco today. Friday, another dog was adopted, Rasta, a Spanish Water Dog. She had lived rough fir months. She was thought to have been a male, but when clipped was discovered to be female, what was thought to be male bits were matted fur!!
It has been a good week at the refuge :D

Today I had an email from the family who adopted the two dogs, and another stray one. The work contract is not being renewed/ cancelled, so they want rid of all three dogs :ohmy: I explained we have no room at all, not a spare space anywhere. When they adopted the dogs they said when the contract finishes they are going back to the UK and the company pays for the dogs to go back too. She is now threatening to get all 3 put to sleep.
We have no space anywhere for small dogs, let alone 2 big dogs, I said about putting them on animal websites, she said she has no time and will just put them to sleep. I have asked for an up to date photo so we can try to find a home, but she has ignored me so far.
I understand how worrying it must be, we need to work with them trying to find a home, not just threaten us with putting the dogs to sleep!

Why are people like that,why get in touch if she's going to destroy them if you don't jump high enough. She can't love them very much.

They did the same when they returned the other Mastin dog, he did not settle with them, we asked her if she could wait 3 days or so, as we again had no room and 2 big dogs were being re-homed the following weekend and she said no, they would put him to sleep, so we had to take him back and shift all the dogs about. This time we have 12 more dogs!
I wish I had never heard of the dammed woman!!

Sorry Pamela. Dreadful woman shouldn't be anywhere near animals by the sound of it. I do hope you can get it sorted.
Have you heard of a site in the UK called Dogs Blog? They get a lot of Romanian dogs and a few Spanish on there as well as from UK pounds etc. Address: www.dogsblog.com
You could advertise them on there and reach a wider audience. It's free.

There should be a licencing system so that these people can never again own dogs. >:(

In their defense, it must be dreadful to have no job and no home at the end of November, but we cannot make a room out of nothing! I still have not had a reply asking for photos 24 hours later. I have forwarded on the emails to another refuge comittee member, who speaks English, so she can see what is being said.
