Fence straining bolt thingies
« on: March 22, 2011, 16:49 »
I need to get those bolts you use to thighten up the wire between some posts. The problem is I have no clue what they are called so cannot find any online to buy. They have an eye on a long thread that goes through the fencepost, and I would tighten up a nut to add tension. Please help me out by telling me what they are called :)

Thankyou!

Fencing barrel strainers. :)

Thats the thing I think you're describing.

Thanks, I just did a search for those. They are almost what I wanted except I thought I could get them with a nut instead of the barrel and hook thing. Does that make sense? They are to go on the end post so have nothing to hook on as it were. If not I will order some of those and find a nut and washer somewhere :)

*edit*

hehe I used google image search instead and found what I need, thankyou for the help :D

Eyebolts ? most builders merchants and DIY stores will stock them.

Oh well, even if we only pointed you in the right direction, as long as you are sorted now. :)

There are some ratchet and pawl mechanisms but they are for serious tensioning.

Eyebolts or a threaded job with an eyebolt either end = turnbuckles (wirelocked ooodles of 'em on aircraft).  ::)  Cheers,   Tony.
