Ive got to disagree with you there SB, I find them really expensive on basically everything even by weight, the bird seed prices made me eyes pop out of my head, and the pots Ive bought from there havent been frost hardy despite advertising to the contrary (to the tune of £35 for one of them!)
On the plus side they do a good line in new plant varities (especially house plants) and their hand made garden furniture is lovely, and I havent been since last June so hopefully its better this year (IMO of course)

My Local Suppliers
Springwood Nursery and Garden Centre
Springwood Rd
Pike Hill
Burnley
Lancs

Just been extended, but havent delved into it yet ( I cant spend any more money!)...especially great for climbers, fruit trees and shrubs, conifers and pond plants

Sorry hun!

Anybody know of any independent nurseries in the Aberdeen area?  (General ones - I know there's a Rose one).

I'd much sooner give my business to someone local, rather than a big chain  :tongue2:

My local now has winter onion sets in - 5 varieties this year:

Silver Moon
Electric
Radar
Shakespeare
Senshyu

200 sets cost me £3.28

By comparison, 50 from T & M would cost you more than this - with postage on top.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Please post here details of your local independent nursery that is able to supply such items as peas and beans by weight, large choice of seed spuds, loose onions sets, shallots etc. etc.

Please keep details brief. If they have a web site, please include that.

Mine:

***********************************************************************

Brookside Nurseries
Cropston Rd
Anstey
Leicester

http://www.brooksidenurseries.co.uk/home.html

All above mentioned items loose at a good price, nearly 90 different varieties of seed spud.

********************************************************************

I think I called at this one earlier this year and indeed I could not believe how many diff types of spud they had and you could pick out the ones you wanted and buy as few or as many as you liked.

I'll say at the outset that I have no commercial interest in the nursery!!!

However I do note their order form is now up and running for next year here!

http://www.brooksidenurseries.co.uk/sps.php

98 varieties available.
