Raw milk is still being sold in Selfridges - I realise it's a bit of a trek

We get raw milk from a vending machine in the middle of the countryside when we're in Italy. The vending machine 'moo's when the bottle's being filled. Brilliant.

And that's even further away from Lincolnshire than Selfridges is.

Just back from holiday in Tattershall and spotted this thread...

I agree with many on here, up with the supermarkets - stuff 'em!  >:(

Just wish there was a way to be able to 'keep' milk for longer, I'd buy direct from the farmer too.

I sooo miss the milk with creamy top too  :(

Harmogi-wotsit? Pah!  >:(

Unpasteurized milk freezes really well. When we dry the herd off late winter we freeze a load of milk to see us through so we don't have to buy any.

Supermarket chains have killed off a lot of family businesses
We a consumers are as much to blame . Gone are the days when you could nip out to the corner shop .
How many grocers butchers and the like have gone from our towns never to be replaced.
The supermarkets are now taking the farmers to the wall .
It is not that we can boycott supermarkets because all the smaller shops have gone we all have to eat , we can be constructive in what we buy.
Back the farmers as best we can. We are the ones who can make a difference.

One way as I said earlier is to get your milk from 'the milkman' delivered to your door. This doesnt answer OP question but does get back at the supermarkets, after all we ( I guess) on this site grow most of our own veg and fruit so dont need those from supermarkets.

Made a start have beds established but moved in too late for serious planting. We shall see what 2015 brings.

I get all my milk from the milkman. My reasons were I couldn't bear the amount of plastic recycling I was generating in shop bought milk. Not everyone can afford that though. I pay 50p a pint, its expensive to have a conscious sometimes

I know it was outlawed in scotland but I think you can still leagally purchase it in England.  Here is a website with a list of possible sources, not sure how up to date it is though  (can't copy/paste it due to their copyright policy).

That might be helpful for some daamoot, but mother-hen who reports above that she isn't allowed to sell it, is in England. :(

You can buy it in 'posh' food places in London, which is crazy.  But people who live right next door to a farm can't... I grew up on the stuff & really miss it as I only get it now when I go to stay with friends who have a house cow.

I know it was outlawed in scotland but I think you can still legally purchase it in England.

This site http://www.naturalfoodfinder.co.uk/unpasteurised-raw-milk-uk lists raw milk suppliers in England and Wales. There is no ban on raw milk, primary farm gate sales are still permitted. You just need to find a farm gate.... ;)

To my knowledge the FSA hasn't decided on an outright ban yet, just to prevent it being sold in shops. The vending machine in Selfridges is exploiting a loophole.
