You could fit a "dossil" over the shower waste to prevent hairs getting in it in the first place  :)

Is that what those things are called?  :) And an old Scottish word too! ::) We have one in the bath. I see from a quick Google that this seems to be a fairly new looking brand name with whizzy, swishy patterns, but these things have obviously been around for donkeys.  :tongue2:

I second (or third?) the recommendation for caustic soda.
Having waist length hair... i feel your pain... caustic soda's the only thing i've found effective.
Those drainbuster commercial products are not very effective on hair, so save your money.

Unfortunate though it is, I haven't found any product particularly useful at unblocking plugholes where hair is involved. And so the unpleasant task of unscrewing the trap and removing it by hand. Not at all nice, but at least it's both cheap and effective  :)

Found myself using my plunger for the first time in a decade yesterday morning on the bath plughole.  Caustic soda is now ready and waiting to be applied!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Do wear rubber gloves and eye protecting goggles before using caustic soda, it is very aggressive stuff!!

Thanks - I'd seen the warnings on the pack (I have to mix it with water first, according to the destructions) but it's always better to be safe and remind others
