I have several raised wooden beds (8 foot long, 4 foot wide and 10 inches high) about to be filled with new compost.

They will be laid on a myplex sheeting on very poor quality soil/hardcore. will having just 10 inches of soil be enough to grow most veg? What veg will I have a problem with? What advice can you help me with please?

I definitely wouldn't try parsnips but you will be fine with most other things. What are you wanting to grow?

I am not sure that you need the sheeting, I would have thought that drainage would be better without.

10" of soil will be sufficient for anything grown above the soil but any roots may be a challenge

You will be ok for most things

Raised beds are great for being able to control the soil
Do a soil test and see what Nutrients you already have in there, then you will now what you will need to add.
A good rule of thumb I was told once is, anything that grows above the soil give Nitrogen and anything below give Potash
