Flowering calabrese

So, I'm assuming the pretty little yellow flowers appearing all over my Marathon calabrese ain't good news...

Anyone know what's happening, and why?

I believe the idea is to remove the groups of immature flowers and cook them before they turn yellow.    Cheers,   Tony.

With a less sarcastic tone:

The calabrese has "gone over", or "bolted", depending on when it should be ready. It should have been picked earlier before the yellow flowers showed.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Can any of it be rescued? Maybe the stalks for a soup?

Once it has gone to seed the only edible bits would be the leaves. I found out the hard way a few years ago how quickly it can bolt, thinking 'I'll harvest at the weekend' to go back and see lots of pretty yellow flowers  ::). The leaves were nice though.

Dry. And sunny. Do not expect big heads. You can also see them bunched in the supie.

Harvest sooner next time and water, water.

As others say, all bits are edible in theory, unless past their best in practice. Beyond a thickness, not chewable. Broccoli stalks are a favourite snack of mine, just need peeling. They taste like khol-rabi.
