plasic and wooden troughs
« on: February 01, 2019, 11:04 »
I was thinking of making some wooden troughs as I had some nice wood that would be ideal to make  I came up with should I line the troughs then I thought yes I would use a liner so when we where shopping the other day I came across some plastic troughs priced at £3.00 2ft by around 6in and made of strong plastic  just the job another store had them at £2.00 but they where thinner plastic

so I can make the wooden trough to fit the plastic trough that I can plant up and leave through the summer months then remove and store overwinter both wood troughs and plastic for next year

That sounds a really good idea, and with the plastic being protected from the sun it won't go brittle.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

 Hi goosegirl

the plastic drums I use are x anti-freeze or non toxic organic chemical I found blue drums last forever and I cut the drums with either a disk cutter or a sharp hand saw marking the drum where I need to cut a word of advise get someone who is used to using a disc cutter to cut it for you  and I get someone to hold the drum steady when I cut it but they do last and are good for potting on plants or shrubs to go into tubs and I found cutting two holes one each side of the drum also makes it easy to lift out with hooks [meat hooks]  hope this info helps why not give it a try  :)
