All these pallets has got me thinking.........NO MUNT DON'T HIDE!!!!!
I never seem to have any luck with carrots, so I was thinking about making a largish raised container thingy  out of pallets. Would this be feasible if it were lined with plastic (with drainage holes) and filled with compost and riddled soil?

Empty bags used by tree nurseries to bulk ship bare-root trees.

I posted about them recently.  Let me take a look.  Basically you can fill with soil for a 100 - 120litre growing tube.  No wasted space.

Do you know anyone who plants trees for a living?  They'll be delighted for you to take them off their hands.

T'other option is an old bath filled with compost and well drained loam. Old G/F baths are all over the place in skips

Aggy is there any reason you're having trouble with carrots - I've found it really easy... what's gone wrong?

I'm grateful to see exactly what sort of soil the bath should contain, felt a bit of a plonker for asking lol, thanks CE
