Hi, i've got a number of new strawberry plants from runners off various varieties but have also ordered new named variety and was wondering if I need to have these in a bed away from the others to avoid cross pollination? If separate, how far apart?? Any advice appreciated

I don't think they cross-pollinate but others on here may know better.

TBH Goosegirl I thought that as commercial growers have multiple varieties but expect they replace more often than i will want to and didn't want to end up in the same situation, thanks

Usually you can keep strawberry plants going for about 3 years before being replaced by one year old plants. I grow Elegance and Marie du Bois and found them the most tasty ones. Last year I had loads of fruit although some were nibbled by woodlice which we have in abundance here. I'm going to see what happens this year as to how they perform and may take the first plant off the runners and peg it down so I can keep them going.
