Strawberry type recommendations
« on: February 01, 2020, 13:06 »
Hello.
Can anyone recommend strawberry varieties?
Not fussed on season but I'd like something from each. We were thinking of refreshing our mystery gift variety for something new.

I've grown this one for years.  This is just a random link as I can't remember where I bought them from.

They make huge strawberries with a fantastic taste.  I have bought some runners of another type to extend the season this year.  They come highly rated, but I haven't tried them yet, so can't speak for their flavour.

We got some Elegance from D T Brown and they were lovely!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I've always grown Cambridge Favourite and have found them to be incredibly tolerant and very tasty.

The plants also seem to last a lot longer than many other varieties I've seen.

Is OK to plant out new stawb plants in March for a crop this summer?
I normally set my new runners late summer/Autumn, but did not get round to it last year.
Thanks.

Well - technically these are first year plants from runners aren't they? And you aren't supposed to pick till year 2 I was always told.
