Strawberries flowering

A lot of my strawberry plants are setting out flower buds and a few have already flowered. As these are regular strawberry plants and a bit young, I am a bit worried that it is too soon for them (I remember it snowing one Easter and it is still not that warm yet).


Should I pinch these out or just leave them and see if they continue to crop around early June when I expect them to? 

Like other crops there are early and mid to late season strawberry varieties. Early season varieties should be starting to flower now and for the next few weeks. As Dan says try to reduce the number of runners and maybe pot them on for a future crop. Its worth giving them a feed with a fertiliser such fish, blood and bone to give them a bit of a boost prior to the fruit setting. Just simply scatter some on the surface of the soil between the plants and hoe / rake in.

Main pests are slugs, birds and field mice. Most of mine disappeared last year taken by mice
