my two new girls are 12-13wks, ive had them since sunday, they have there own little coup, there is a perch in there for them but they are choosing to sleep on the straw,  i was unsure whether to start lifting them on the perch cause of there age, wot age is suitable for birds to roost.   nickyx

I would lift them onto the perch at night so they get use to perching. You have to keep lifting them up for a few nights until it clicks in their little heads.

Hi nicky, someone told me young birds shouldnt roost, can make their breastbone flat (or something) not sure how young/old they should start roosing from tho, not much help , sorry hun

when we first got our girls at 10 wks old we put a very low perch in the ark(about 4 inches off the floor) they used it straight away .Now they are in there permenant pen and the perches are much higher but they do use them.They do like to sit around the sides off nest box tho and im sure a couple do sleep in the nest boxes.Not sure this can harm them ?

well the roost bar i have in with them at the mo isnt high at all but probably needs moving back abit.   nickyx
