I keep hearing about this on radio 4 woman's hour, food and drink but its over £20.00 can anyone recommend it?
-
If you are interested in why things work cooking-wise, it might be worth it - but it's not a cookery book.
-
Yes that's why i'm interested sounds fascinating have you got it mum?
-
No, like you I heard about it the other day and had a look on Amazon, I was hoping for recipes though
I leave the why strange things happen to Heston Blumenthal
-
OH thinks he can borrow it from work library.

I've spent the past week or so wondering about this one! I'm definitely going to get it but think I'm going to wait for some vouchers from work. I'd also love to possess Modernist Cuisine but that's probably a 30 year old birthday present to myself...
You may like the Larousse Gastronomique ( I have the paperback) which is enjoyable to flick through but is more like a dictionary.
There is the new Oxford Companion to Food (or somesuch) which is getting rave reviews.

Wow this is a fascinating book oh managed to borrow from work library.
