Hi everyone
New to gardening,I acquired a plot 2 months ago and have just about cleared brambles and started digging over,the plot hadn't been used for 2 years and tackling the roots and old carpets I presume to stop weeds nearly broke me,but I'm still here and loving it

Welcome aboard  :). Unfortunately clearing an allotment like that appears to be the norm when allocated one, sadly. A lot of sites now ban the use of carpet for those very reasons that they are a devil to remove for the next person & are now thought to be unsafe to use because of leaching of chemicals.
Take a look at gardeners diaries on here, you might consider starting one to record your progress, plus we are nosy & love photos  :lol:
