Is it too late to pull rhubarb now? I've got a big pile of gooseberries but no rhubarb except on the plant, and I didn't think you were supposed to pull rhubarb this late in the year because of too much oxalic acid or something.

And how much sugar did you add to that?

Now that sounds interesting. I have both in the freezer at the moment. Will give that a try.

Not my own yet I am afraid. Still working on the fruit patch. Mine were pick your own gozgogs and rhubarb from Spitalfields.

Have made a batch of rhubarb, apple and ginger,

and have an experiment in the pan at the moment of spiced seville orange, peach and whisky marmalade. just waiting for the splodge on the saucer in the fridge to see if I have the correct set.

We did have to travel to get to the place but made sure we got  enough to make it worth our while.
40 pounds of gooseberries and 10 pounds of blackcurrants.

Daft thing is pick your own strawberries are way, way more expensive than buying them ready picked at Spitafields. And the PYO strawbs don't taste of anything!

about the same wieght as the fruit if you go less than 60.40 it doesn't keep I think but others will correct me if i'm wrong.

just picked the last lot of rhubarb you are supposed to let it rest to put food into the root now for the autumn.
