Title: Howard 200 rotavator
Post by: mitzygolf on December 28, 2019, 15:30
Hi, I've just acquired an old Howard 200 rotavator but I have been trying the control levers and the drive wheel lock lever seems to be seized. Has anyone got any quick fixes? Thanks

Hello can you take a few photos of the levers I've used a few Howard's but don't know of a a drive lock lever unless you mean the packs on the wheel centres  jezza

Hi, it's the right angle lever that reaches from the handlebars to the gearbox to engage the drive to the wheels

I know the lever you mean know it runs in a sliding quadrant try plenty of oil use clutch and try and pull lever gently rocking the machine back and forth this can loosen any stuck gears if it works in reverse try it in forward gear there could be 2 forward it might take a while to release the linkages check gear box for oil if it's dry use EP 90 gear oil and leave to stand a day then start engine and let the engine turn gear box a d try and engage gears with engine ticking over never on full throttle   jezza

Thanks. I've just stripped the engine.  I'll try that when I get it going
