we dug up all the remaining charlotte potatoes last night and filled two sacks, (not full to the top mind) some of them are HUGE do they roast and bake ok, i've only been treating them as "new" potatoes and boiling them, suggestions please :)

Some are ging in the oven right now :) :)
News update this afternoon
-
My Anya potatoes have turned out really large, as have the International Kidney variety. I have roasted, chipped, steamed and mashed both varieties with great success. I will be interested to hear the results of the Charlottes as I intend to grow these as well next year.

unfortunately charlotte potatoes are a salad variety and are renown for their waxy flesh and intense flavours, I grow these every year and always have too many so the whole family enjoys them.
I always say you can never have too many fresh salads yummmm
:tongue2:

how long to Charlotte keep? As I have 15Kg of them...
-
Theyre supposed to keep well

They keep well. Some people have them in salads of course but in the Bonfire household we prefer waxy potatoes with everything. Do not be put off by their being labelled as salad potatoes - there is no such thing.
They are lovely baked. Two sacks - well done.

Just finished: they were delicious baked in jackets: lovely taste, lovely texture :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2:
Only criticism, the skins were a bit thin (I pefer a nice chewy skin), but you cant have everything ::)

I kept them in a cool garage well into the new year. Make great garlic potatoes, in fact they are just great. The Queen of potatoes?

oh good, i'm glad they're ok for any type of cooking, now i need to tackle the maincrop, twice the amount of maris piper but i'm only going to take up half and leave the rest in the ground for a while :)
