I've seeded our back garden with "green manure"
Would like to know if anyone else has had good results with it? And once it's dug in can you seed it again straight away?

Tyin it myself for the first time this year, supposed to be a viable alternative to animal manure.

I hope Sea Dart is from Pompey
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I filled in as much as I wanted to on the Profile I didn't realise I had to fill it all in. I live in Hampshire I'm not on ICQ, AIM or MSN I don't have a website and I think by my signature you can tell I own a taxi.
Of the 400 posts most have been on the Word Game (Nature Related)

Now back to Green Manure it was a packet we picked up at the Garden Centre and when the world wakes up I'll go and get some more and seed that in then  :tongue2:

Seems very very late to be planting any green manure in Hampshire but without knowing which varieties are contained in the packet, it is hard to say.  Did the packet list contents or suggest a planting time please?

Okay thanks.  I'd have suggested planting those in September in your location but do please let us know how they do.

I'm trying out field beans on one of my veggie beds and they are doing great.  I'm sure I read somewhere though, that after digging in green manure it was advisable to leave the soil for a couple of weeks before sowing.  I visited Heligan a couple of weeks ago and they had an area under clover, has anyone tried clover as a green manure?

I planted mustard, it has come up about 6" and I expect it to lie dormant till the spring, then it should flower and be dug in. I will leave the bed for 3 weeks then plant my maincrop potatoes there.

That is the theory anyway  :!:  :!:
