Electric Fencing

Hi from France

Chooks now being pestered by neighbours dog. Gallic shoulder shrug when i spoke to them about it. Garden too  big to fence totally, so i'm thinking of electric fence round the run.
Nothing fancy, just couple strands of wire at low level connected to car battery ?? (Same as keepers use round pheasant pens)
Is it that simple 
Can anyone point me in right direction.

Hi this system has worked for me (touch wood) I have three wires going around my run, top wire about a foot off ground, this has put the fox off so should work for a dog, I am using a battery which they use on farms it is a simple system just make sure grass and leaves etc dont touch bottom wire, good luck
