Goodbye Wilko - Wine Kits

(1/2) > >>

pepsi100:
Now we know Wilko is going where will you be able to buy wine making kits ?

Every year I bought a couple of kits and cans from there

I dont know of any other store that stocks them

Might be a few bargains before they finally close the doors on them

Might be onto eBay now

New shoot:
I’ve seen brewing kits and wine kits in The Range.  In our local store they are usually somewhere amongst the kitchen stuff.

pepsi100:
I dont know where the  Range is

I think wine making is a bit of a dying art these days, this forum used to be very active

I'm still making fruit wines, but I do miss looking for the grape concentrate, just to add to any fruit wines I make

I have several bottles that are over 20 years old, I'm not sure what they will taste like though, but they havent leaked and only a little bit of sediment in the bottom

Growster...:
Fret ye not everyone... help is at hand!

These people are pretty good and their products are very diverse - I've used them several times now, and am delighted with their stuff - mainly dried elderberries and finings etc, and more recently conc. grape juice for 'the extra vinosity'!

Postage can be avoided on oders over £65.00, so I tend to buy every few months! Their delivery is pretty quick too!

I am/was even contemplating using them for beer making, but have this nagging feeling that at my time of life, several pints of 'Growster's Summer Ale - 7.5% abv', isn't really such a good idea...:0(

pepsi100:
I have made beer twice, everyone said it was like ESB (Extra Special Bitter)

It went really well, but people suffered some bad effects the following day

You didnt need to drink much more than two pints of it (I had made 120 pints )

Even though had the world drop out of their bottom the following day, they came with bottles to take some home

It was a lovely looking pint, nice creamy head, very clear, held upto the light

Its a shame I can remember the brand name any more
