Title: Runny chicken poop
Post by: Totty on December 19, 2010, 10:02
Hi all,

We have a mixture of hens, Jersey Giant, Orpington, 2 White Stars and a little black silkie, all are still laying well and all were seemingly healthy up until yesterday.

When i was cleaning them out i noticed that around the bum area of all of them, there was a bit of white residue, left behind after runny poos. I watched them for a while and they definetly seem to have the squits. Up until yesterday they had never had any mess on there feathers at all, only the two white stars are a bit dirty at the back end with any regularity. They are fed layers pellet and mixed corn, approx 80/20%, and a handful of kitchen scraps every other day. Although around four days ago i did throw in some fruit (grapes banana and pear) could the addition of lightly acidic grapes have causes the tummy upset??

anything new can bring on a case of the squits, see how they go for a bit. When did you last worm them?
