Rollaway nest box
« on: April 05, 2014, 19:50 »
Can anyone advise me on types of nesting material I should be using in them. At the moment I use sawdust chippings but problem is the eggs are getting stuck as they roll and don't go down to the collection tray. Also what degree angle should they be slopping I'm not quite sure

Not really a good idea to use nesting materials in rollaways as the eggs don't then rollaway!  Not too much of an angle, just enough to let the egg roll down into the collection area.  They don't get dirty then.

Thank you, maybe I should try that. Seems odd not using nothing just hope they will accept it like that.

I have 2 rollaway nest boxes, never used anything in them

(I did at first, but they never rolled away)

The back of the 'scoop' is raised up about 2-3 inches, it works very well

I bought mine on ebay, a bloke on there used to make them, but he isnt there any more (I'd like to get another one  :) )I dont like the plastic ones on there though  :(
It's all about the journey, not the destination

I will, but they seem to be like cockerel eggs  :)

Anyone here handy enough to knock a couple up ?

I could provide photos and measurements, I am sure we could find something to swap  :nowink:

I know the rules about selling here, I have a few things that arent chicken related if any one can knock one up
