Today's plants were cancelled because it's freezing and very windy outside. Not good for seedlings.

I made bread, 2x wheaten bread and one plain white which is sitting under the heated clothes dryer as we speak. One is actually multi grain flour but the same recipe because it's nice.

I forgot that these are pound loaf tins and I'm making kg loaves. So part of one batch is in a giant cup cake silicon mould. Which is fine, the In Laws can have that one. Then I forgot I was making double sized breads and added half the milk I needed. Also the loaf I made last weekend had rye flour, which is a thirsty flour and absorbed all the water, so they looked the same lucky I realised in time and added more. I wonder if if these will work out okay or be horrible in some fashion.

Not quite.
I tried them in the halogen oven for the first time because the oven is a fickle beast. Turns out halogen ovens aren't for bread so while it was nice, I had to put the oven on for the white yeasted loaf. As

Halogen ovens +bread = scorchio top + runny middles + just not entirely cooked.

If Husband hadn't eaten the charred bit we'd have had a medieval feast tonight using it as trencher bread.

But the non scorched bit tasted nice and the white yeasted oven one was the best bread I've made yet. I tried sourdough, but gave up, you were adding so much flour, binning loads and we didn't get through the bread fast enough to use the to be binned stuff.

I keep my starter in a jar in the fridge.  It gets fed once a week.  1 cup of starter, 1 cup of flour and 1 cup of water gets whisked up together and put back in the fridge.  The cup of starter left over needs a couple of spoons of flour, a splash of water and 24 hours out of the fridge to be ready for bread making.  I find that makes enough to keep us going for another week.

Clear up the mess made when the little freezer decided to give up the ghost.  It's been on borrowed time for about 10 years!  Husband delighted to eat chocolate ice cream for breakfast.  With the exception of some bread sauce  everything else was salvageable and has been dealt with

Write and post a condolence card, plant the beans and peas out, they can camp overnight in a cardboard box.
Do some weeding and edge the borders. Try and tidy the kids bedroom.

Sow some beans.  Pot on the tomatoes.  It's blooming cold so I need to be greenhouse based.

Today I'm taking youngest out so he doesn't join in the zoom class with Eldest. Spray down the swings at the park with disinfectant. I'm going to plant out the peas and beetroot and put the chillies out into the garden since it's due to be lovely. Laundry, fold laundry and put it away. I have a folded mountain.
Finish extending the front border and plant hyacinths in there as well as strawberries or raspberries now Husband has edged it. That bit was all stones so they need to be lifted and put in the other stony border. Finish weeding between the flags and lift the weeds into the trug.

Yesterday we planted up the beans and peas in the garden. Husband edged.

Husband to do list, take the trough planter out of the shed and back to the house. Water the allotment, maybe take us with him.

I'm nipping off to the plot soon to plant out cabbage and then hopefully have some time at home later for more seedling sorting, sowing and potting on.

I will mostly dodging calls from work as well, but we will have to see if that plan comes off
