Title: Okay, so goldfish don't .....
Post by: shoozie on October 17, 2013, 17:50
..... Attach their jaws to your trouser leg while your walking in the house, or draw blood with tiny teeth.  They dont leave a map of bruises on your skin, or chew your slippers, socks, shoe laces and anything else you're stupid enough to leave around.

They don't have you all sitting of an evening with your feet up on the furniture while they have a massive mad hour, and have you wondering why you didn't choose the quieter one sitting at the back of the pack rather than this 'extra' from that chainsaw film you hated.

They don't eat other animals poo and think its a delicacy.  They don't have rainbow poo because of all the 'stuff' they've hoovered up and swallowed behind your back.  Oh yes, and they don't try to have a go at the vet.

The list goes on I'm sure, and yes, the last six months would have been a lot quieter with a fish randomly swimming in circles

But, I wouldn't have swapped anything for my wee pup who is six months old this week  :D  :D  :D

She has gone from this:

To this ....

My wee terrier is all terrier for sure.  Mad as a brush at times.  Is learning some good manners. Still gets forgetful at times, and definitely has a 'deaf' tendency  :nowink:

What a six months, whew .... They grow up so quickly, and I'm sort of missing those manic ankle biting, nimrod moments.  Well, maybe !

(no offence intended to any goldfish  ::) )

They don't give you sloppy kisses either.   ;)

Gorgeous photos, they do grow so fast.  Glad you shared them with us.   :)

If that last picture is recent, I see she's at the "string" stage now. :D You've certainly given a very accurate description of a Terrier pup.  :nowink: Look at those eyes - intelligent, wise, eager to please...

She's a beauty.

:)

That second photo, overlooking the lake, should be in a competition - I bet you'd win. Great composition! And, of course, lovely dog...

Thanks all for the lovely comments ....  :D. She gets a lot of admirers when she's out and about, apart from non dog folks and one chap with a Lhasa/bichon cross who was slightly older than her, and the owner picked his pup up.  Not sure what he thought was going to happen  :nowink:

Yes, it was taken on Wednesday .... Erm, what's string

Thanks lacaya  :D. The bit of water is Loch Laggan and we had been looking at a memorial there and admiring the view, but the pup was more interested in exploring the view at ground level through the heather

String dog. When all the parts of the body are growing at different rates and they always have long skinny legs. :D

 definitely ... She's doing a very good impression of the Pink Panther these days ....  :nowink:

Got you now  :D. Here was me thinking you were talking about her coat as, at the minute, her adult coat is just coming through after stripping some loose puppy hair - I have spent a small fortune over the years on waterproof clothing and the wee dog grows the real thing and water (and mud) just runs off her  :nowink:

If you love carrots, then autumn king fresh from the garden are, surely, the best of the best   :D

though I hope she's not just topping up her night vision (which, hopefully, is more in focus than this blurry photo  :nowink:) and planning on going down dark rabbit holes soon

Glad she likes her veggies.   :)

Bless... I've got a wee border at home - he's 6 now - how the time flies!! Regarding GPS, I could never find one small enough but if you can - get one!

Wee Brodie is doomed to a life on the lead after his last escapade in a large forest... got the scent of a deer, high-tailed it and ended up in a police kennel after someone handed him in (had managed to lose his collar with ID tag, luckily he's been chipped). Was a very traumatic 6 hours as of course I imagined the worst... nope, just over £70 to get the wee escape artist back!

Such a wee character, wouldn't be without him... but boy, he can find the smallest hole in a fence and be away before you know it!!!

Hi DG - wish I'd known you had a border terrier as I'd have been picking your brains !

What an ordeal that will have been and thank goodness someone got him and he was chipped.  I can honestly say i know how you will have felt as both my old dogs (not BTs) had a couple of long awol moments.  I've met more than a few owners with similar stories to tell and the thought does fill me with dread  :(.

I hope it's ok that I laughed when I read that Brodie is now six ..... everybody I've spoken to has said ' they're great dogs when they're 6"!

Like Brodie, Ella is definitely a character and a half.  She just makes me smile, even when her brain has turned to chocolate ...  :D. You've just reminded me that the extra roll of chicken wire still lying in the garden  - supposedly to raise the waist high bit of the garden fence - is still a job not done !

... a little bit taller now, so can just about see over the wall (ok, with the help of the stool  :nowink:) ...... a favourite spot watching the leaves falling and checking out the 'world' going by and thinking 'when I'm a big dog .....'  :nowink:

Ah yes, and the thinking they're a big dog thing. We also have a flatcoat retriever (big and daft)... yes, wee Brodie rules the roost. If he wants Harley to chase him he knows he just has to nick his ball and prance around in front of him for a couple of seconds - Harley falls for it every time  :D Brodie also has to drink out of the water bowl first, Harley can just wait his turn. Love having 2 such different dogs, they provide hours of entertainment

 I had a bit of deja vu there  :nowink:  Her good friend Blue is a golden and the friendship is a bit one sided at the minute .....

A wee update before Christmas ...

Our Ella has been in her first season over the last few weeks, so it's been dog-less walks and no training class.  For a little sociable pup, it's been quite confusing really.  Her off lead walking has come to a halt, so it'll be back to basics in earnest from now on ... In the middle of pheasant season ...

Our last camping trip til after Christmas .... A blowy loch lomondside ....

Ell's campsite ...  Just us

No dogs (which was good, though pup won't agree)  and no people ... A rare treat, indeed,  to have the lochside all to ourselves  :D.

Santa came early for Ell, not that she knows what that is all about  :D. But, she did know she had missed her best friend, and yesterday he came to say hello again  ...... :D :D :D

Little and large ....

I've no idea what they are discussing here ...

And here, I can only hope she only does this with Blue .... I quite like Ella with a head   8) .....

Ell and her big, canny polar bear called Blue..... Santa and his elf  ;)

Happy Christmas from Ella .... X
