Crop rotation
« on: March 18, 2014, 15:16 »
Hi chaps I'm still confused about rotation, I want to create 4 plots of a similar size, Legumes, Brassicas, Potatoes and 'others' (asparagus etc) ... I'd really like a comprehensive list of all the veg. in each section so I can look up, say, which heading Fennel comes under. Also I kep coming across contradictions eg I thought parsnips would be with the potatoes (roots) but it seems they're a brassica, another good reason to find a good list ... can anyone point me in the right direction please ?

Parsnips are NOT a brassica, swede is, is that what you're thinking of?

Neither swede nor potatoes are root crops. Swede is a swollen stem and potatoes are tubers. Don't get too hung up about getting rotation smack on!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

The most important bit in my book is to not keep following like with like to prevent build up of disease and depletion of specific nutrients.
