Is anyone on a site where you are allowed to cook? Have Bar-B-Q's etc?
The thought of taking spuds straight out of the ground and into a pot of boiling water is appealing :tongue2:

The rules on my site are no fires but barbeques are allowed. Last year I didn't really have much to cook but I've got a better feeling about this year. Some new potatoes with butter sound pretty good though!

To say people have barbecues on our site would be an understatement. Full Sunday dinner is not unusual.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I cook on my plot all the time.  I have a butane cheapo gas ring, a barbecue and when we need a bigger barby I have some bricks and some oven shelves given to my by a fellow plotter so can cook up a storm.  I like to make bacon sarnis so that the smell wafts over the plots.

this is my impromptu cooker

no dig spuds in the background

I never gave it a thought to ask if cooking was allowed, I made sausage butty's today and hope to be bbqing all through the summer.

There is one plot that has a gas cooker in the greenhouse so i'm sure it must be ok.
What if the Hokey Cokey IS what its all about...

I love the way people on the allotment shows are cooking and brewing up tea down their plot. I'd love to spend a whole day ther but I never have time. I dash down, work my socks off for a few hours then leave tired, but spiritually refeshed, and go and crack on with something else!
One of these days.....

Some brave peeps have already had BBQ's this year on theres, we're waiting a while, nothing like freshly picked courgettes and sweetcorn on the BBQ, with a salad fresh too.

Hi

I do like the picture of the plot made cooker, good one!

I have had 1 B.B.Q this year. One Sunday we had a very rare sunny day with no wind so out come the £1.99 disposable B.B.Q., we cooked beacon Sausage it was so nice and the smell went over many plots making many hungry and wanting to do the same. It was very nice cant wait to do more.

We have a rule on our plot that you cant have any pressurised canisters (propane )etc, but that has not stopped me cooking on my plot on open fires and bbq's !
I enjoy fresh new pots, sweetcorn, peas, and always take along a few sausages and some west country cider, heaven!
I must admit i do get a few odd looks as most of my fellow allotmenteers are quit serious, but as i am also the youngest, they seem pretty tolerant, and end up coming over for a jar and sausage or two!
I think its amazing to be able cook when you pull something straight out of the ground, It for me is an absolute pleasure and I cant wait for the sunshine!
inspired by the pic, must get me some bricks!
Keep your mind sharp, but your hoe sharper.

I've recently had a letter from our chairman telling us no more fires/burning of rubbish (not even wood   ) are allowed on site. Apparently one of the residents complained to the council - clean air act and all that... :? Do you think this would include BBQ-ing also  :?:
