Lovely crop there on Friday, but didn't have time to pick. Went to lotty this morning and they've been stripped, by pigeons I presume :( I never had to net them when I lived down south. Where's my shotgun

I think I'm lucky - the only thing the birds go for on our plots are the brassicas. As yet, no problem with any type of fruit! Maybe we have fussy pigeons ???

Pigeons, blackbirds and magpies all tried to get my currant this year.
Managed to save some but have got a big cage under construction for the next year --- never again

60' of debris netting & 30' of enviromesh was all that was between a big crop and none. Learned my lesson may moon aqo.

Lots of cats hang about on my plot so the birds seem to stay away.
Up to now I have never had any issues with birds......

We've heard famous last words like that before!

At least they waited until your fruit was ready ! They stripped mine (red/black and white) overnight back when we had that dry spell.

I find with currants - that the birds take more before they are ripe - still had good crops this year but I am thinking of protection for next.
