Covering brassicas still?
« on: October 26, 2008, 18:37 »
Apologies if this ends up as a second topic - my IE dropped out so it doesn't look as though the first version of the topic got through.

I have my red cabbages covered with mesh against pigeons and cabbage white butterflies.

Am I correct in thinking it's wise to keep the covering on all winter, until I harvest the cabbages, or can it come off now?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

If I recall, pigeons are not attracted to red cabbages so it might be safe.  Have to say I leave my netting on anyway because I have other things in the same bed that are still at risk.

The pigeons are a bother for a while in autumn yet, don't seem to be any more here, but as one thrifty punter put it, I'm only uncovering mine, once others have done it, so I'm not the first.
