Sure i can find a use for them  :) especially the squash seeds as not got any of them  :D.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I've put my name down too!  FREE is my favourite word!!!  :D :D

Someone gave me a butternut squash last year, never had it before, but it makes amazing soup!!!!!  So I saved some of the seeds, but it will be nice to compare it to the free packet ones too!!

Would you please share your soup recipe, GrannieAnnie?
I tried butternut squash once, prepared as per an American friend's recommendation - forked out like spaghetti & then I forget what - but it didn't go down at all well  :tongue2: :tongue2: and put us off for good.

Can't remember if I used a recipe or just did my own thing like usual, but I'll look in my soup book later and let you know!!!!  I also did a pumpkin soup, but think I put too much milk in it and it was like drinking warm milk!!!! lol  so I won't try that one again, but I still hve some frozen pumpkin,  I keep meaning to cook it on its ownthen mix it with the soup, see what happens!!!! lol

Thanks for pointing this out. It is also quite a useful site generally. Like the others I'l try (at no expense) the squash.

butternut squash is very tasty especially roasted.
It is a winter squash so related closely to the pumpkin, it tastes similar and can be cooked in much the same ways. Easy to grow, I usually start off indoors then transfer out late May, it also benefits from lots of manure.
I highly recommend it!
