Title: Garden Gate Spring
Post by: Glosterboy on April 16, 2013, 16:47
My solid wooden garden gate is 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Unfortunately, when the wind is blowing from a certain direction the gate has a tendency to slam shut, very fast. Not good with grandkids in and out. I’ve search the internet for a “slow releasing gate spring”. No success. Does anybody know of where I can purchase such a thing? Or know of what I require? An implement to fit on the gate so that whatever the weather the gate slowly shuts. The garden gate springs of which I have seen are for aiding gates to close which don't close on their own. Thanks.

You want something like this really then.

Can't image it will be cheap though ! Could you fit a standard door closer on the other side to provide resistance ?

Actually http://www.lock-tec.co.uk/wooden_gate_closer.html looks exactly the right thing. I can't seem to find a reseller though to get an idea of price.
