My chicken run has turned to mush and chickens are splashing around in 2" soggy mud. I have thrown some straw down to try and help things out, but long term being so wet this cannot be good can it?

What about gravel or paving flags?  Try joining your local http://uk.freecycle.org/ group you never know you may get something for free?

You really need to make your run bigger Boxfanman. They need as a minimum 1 sq metre each which would mean an extra 3 feet at least on the length of yours.

And roofing it is the only way you'll keep the wet off.

corrugated, but don't worry, we knew what you meant!!!   :D

Does it get hot under there at all with that plastic stuff shazzer?

Brian got several sheets of the old polycarbonate opaque stuff from my work, and I keep getting ideas of what to do with it, but our runs are so big, you couldn't roof any of it, but I was wondering about if Brian made them a verandah thingy for when it rains!

I dont think it gets hot,  the run area is pretty shaded by a tree and one side is a wall, i thinks its ok.  we left a section un-covered at the gate end, but wished we hadn.t because its always soggy there when its been raining.

This current run is temporary, they will in future have a run that will be 4meters by 8/10 meters, and have a covered corner.

Thanks everyone else for advice, I'll post a few photo's later - I know you all love 'em.
