We enter out plot into the Reading in Bloom comp every year, and usually do quite well, but this year nearly didn't bother as the Summer was so dry, nothing looked it plumtuous best, but in the spirit of joining it, we entered out two plots jointly, all 520 sq m, with 13x3m area of polytunnel too. felt we must have been touched in the head at the time
The awards dinner was on Monday, and Mr Sunny went with our son as I am away with my brother.. and we won Gold in The Most Attractive Allotment :D :D
But more was to come, because at the very end of the evening, the winner with the most points overall, from all the various classes in the competitoin, front gardens, pub gardens, hotel foyers, waterside gardens and so on and so on, is awarded the annual RHS Banksian Medal.... and it was us!!!!!!!
I haven't stopped grinning yet. I never ever dreamed that we would receive such an accolade.... so, so delighted

The crops have been the real "pay-off" in the drought really, and them looking good must have helped a lot with points for condition and variety of fruit and veg being grown, plus all our flowers of course

Well done Sunny and Mr Sunny :D
I am lucky in that I get to visit Sunny's 2 plots and can vouch for the fact that they are very, very lovely. Full of produce and cutting beds of flowers :D

Fantastic stuff, well done!

Thanks Guys. I've added a pic of one of the flower beds taken in the Summer.
We do love flowers and grow masses of them throughout most of the year, lots of them are edible too.

I'm so very pleased for you and the lowers look lovely too! When that sort of thing happens you just want to tell the whole world about it and so you should. Personally I like veg and flowers together as they seem to complement each other and also grow better.
