Chicken eggs.

I went to my Grandma's this morning and got 13 chicken eggs[she let me keep them all] lol. and there were only 2 that didn't have any dirt/poop/mud on them. So I put those 2 in the incubator. I was wondering.. The other ones are dirty and would it be okay to wash them off in water?

I'm new to chickens but I read in a chicken book that you wash them in warm water - otherwise cold water somehow gets through the shell and can contaminate them (the shill particles contract - I think!)

there are about 6 that i actually washed with water[it wasn't too cold, but it also wasn't warm..] because there was poop crusted on them.. i don't know if they'll actually be fertile now.. but i guess its worth a try..
Do you think I should just put them in the incubator just to see?

I take it  your Grandma does have a cockerel?  If so it is worth a try! What sort of hens are they?

Yup. There is 1 rooster that is in with all the hens. All my uncles said he was extremely mean and has attacked them and several other family members.. So I made sure I was armed with a broom before I entered their shed      But he was alright, didn't even bother me!

About their breed... They're nothing special. I dunno their exact breed. But they're just used for collecting eggs to eat. And they're red. lol.
That's all I really know.
