Self Propelled Mower
« on: February 22, 2010, 18:45 »
I have my eye on a McCulloch M46-450CD mower. As anybody got one, who can give me any good or bad points? Or is there another similar type (Self Propelled) and price (£220)which is recommended? Thanks.

I just had a look at it on the tinterweb, and it looks ok. It seems to be powered by the Briggs "classic" engine which is pretty reliable (although you may need to change the carb diagphragm every other year- -£4.50-ish)
I expect the drive is taken from the crankshaft to a gearbox via a belt underneath the machine. That's pretty standard these days. It can cause problems if it's not kept clean underneath, but is simple to fix.
I think Mc Culloch are owned by the same group that own Flymo (Electrolux, well, used to be!) so I don't expect them to be too much of a problem to get parts for....
And it's a good price.
I'd buy it (I've bought worse...... ;))
